Most Common Advantages of WiFi

WiFi is a network technology that makes use of unlicensed spectrum in order to operate. This unlicensed spectrum has allowed many small businesses make use of it. Many coffee shops have converted to hotspots and are able to generate sufficient revenue from it. An existing LAN can be converted to wireless local area network without bearing the extra expense of cabling. Places where it is hard to spread the extensive wired network like old buildings WLAN can easily be established. The technology is so common that all the network devices and PDAs come with a built in WiFi access. Hence a user does not need to incur the extra expense of WiFi cards. Prices of WiFi devices are much lower due the extensive competition that exists in the vendors. The aim and principal of WiFi is to provide roaming, this has helped smart phone and palmtop users to access the network from any hotspot. WiFi is able to provide coverage to small and large businesses. It offer point to point link between simple office buildings and large sky scrapers. WiFi devices are now safe and easy to use. This is due to the various security protocols and WPA2 technology. The WiFi devices operate at the very basic level of service. Earlier the certification from WiFi Alliance makes it difficult for most of the companies to make the products with WiFi capabilities. This certification was expensive. Hence this was the reason why WiFi was expensive. Now the completion between vendors is so stiff that the technology and use is getting common day by day.
